Go beyond the boring dog collar and leash

A collar is extremely essential for a dog in many ways. It helps in identification of your pet and more importantly it allows you to use a leash to control your dog. There are many different types of dog collar and leashes available these days so why not buy something extravagant and different for your pet. Here are a few dog collar and leashes which you could get for your pet.
Harnesses are used on most dogs these days they are designed to be placed around your dog’s chest, side and crossing over to the back. The leash is usually connected to the top of the harness. This is a lot better than the usual collars for the dogs that have the tendency to pull. This harness effectively reduces the stress on the neck. Using a harness from the very beginning might not be the best option as your dog would never get leash trained. It is better to start with a collar and then move to harness so your dog would be leash trained. With a harness your dog can also entertain your kids by pulling them around in a wagon. Padded harnesses like the Foster and Smith dog harness made from nylon are the most commonly used ones for most medium to large sized pets.
Once you have your harness it is time to get a good leash as well. There are many types of leashes available. The two common types of leashes are the regular standard leashes which are about 4 to 8 feet in length and the retractable ones. The material used is usually nylon but leather ones are a lot better and look good as well. The show dog leashes of leather come in different colors to suit your taste and they are extremely strong and look very elegant. They are perfect for taking your dog to a pet show. It is also very comfortable to hold the leash thanks to the durable leather. A good rolled leather collar or a leather hardness along with this leash would be perfect.
